How did Trunks know when and where Goku was going to land?

Trunks knew the exact time and location of Goku's arrival in the space ship but in his time line Goku used Instant Transmission to teleport to Earth and kill Frieza, so he didn't arrive there or at that moment.

Though I guess I'll answer my own question in my own post...could it be that the spaceship was programmed to arrive there despite Goku not being in it in Trunks' time line? Like he teleports out of it but it still crash landed at that spot at that time?

I guess that's it but I wanted to know if there was any other clarification or something I missed. Thank you

Goku took the pod with him when he used Shunkan Ido.

So then how does Trunks know where he is going to land in the main time line if in his time line Goku landed somewhere different and some time different?

Bulma didn't tell him all of this?

I'm getting confused, you fool. Thanks.

This is actually a good question.

My only possible explanation is that Bulma's pretty smart. I wouldn't be surprised if she remembered the time and date that Freeza arrived on Earth being that probably would've been a big event.

However, now explaining that, I just realized that it doesn't make sense how he knew that Goku would be arriving two hours later if Goku in the original time line had arrived via IT.

However, it's very possible that Trunks was somehow tracking Goku's ship in space.

That's what I'm saying...in Trunks' time line Goku uses IT to teleport and defeat Frieza so he wouldn't have landed 3 hours later where he did...Bulma wouldn't have any knowledge of that unless Goku's ship remained on course while he fought Frieza on Earth and then crash lands 3 hours later and that's how she would know that information in order to tell Trunks. That's the only theory I could come up with.

If Goku takes the space pod with him then it doesn't make any sense because in Trunks' time line he would have been told that Goku arrived somewhere else and at a different time to defeat Frieza.

See what I'm saying?

Well see I was just thinking that Goku uses IT to teleport to Earth in time to defeat Frieza but his space ship stayed in space and arrived on it's own preprogrammed, without him in it, where and when Trunks meets him in the main time line. It's the only way it makes sense to me. It's why I ended up answering myself in my OP lol

Unless Goku never did learn IT in Trunks's time line...
I don't know how this would work, but a lot of things were different in Trunks's time than what ended up turning out in the time continuum that we're familiar with as the actual "time line".

After all, Trunks didn't know that Goku knew IT. Certainly Bulma would've mentioned that if he did know it.

Great point about the IT. The problem is though that Trunks felt the need to intervene on Earth's behalf to defeat Frieza...he knew that Goku defeats him in his time line, and he knew that Goku was going to be arriving 3 hours later. If he didn't want to change history, which he says he doesn't, he would have let Frieza do his thing and let Goku handle it whether or not he got there 3 hours later or teleported instantly(assuming he didn't learn IT in the future time line)

Trunks mentions a time discrepancy and he had to intervene though it's likely HE caused the time discrepancy by intervening. He says so himself, that he changed history for no reason. Goku should have always learned Instant Transmission in all times as he learns it before Trunks arrives in the time machine so he always has it. We're gonna end up getting into theoretical time physics in a little bit I can feel it lol

Trunks says "You still had three hours until your arrival, you couldn't have made it" yet Goku is the one who defeated Frieza in his time line...

This leaves me with two options,

Either A) Goku doesn't learn IT like you say and Frieza romps around on Earth for a few hours waiting for Goku to arrive. Perhaps Piccolo and Vegeta hold him off long enough for Goku to arrive and then he easily dispatches Frieza and King Kold and that's why Trunks knew his landing location and time because he did literally land 3 hours after Frieza did...

or B) That Goku in the future time line used IT to arrive right after Frieza did and kills him but his space ship is still on course to arrive 3 hours later at the location without him in it because it's programmed or something...

aye, this is more confusing than I thought when I posted the question.

This is more confusing by the minute.

However, it's very possible that everyone spent the time fighting Freeza's men, and possibly that the majority of the 3 hours got burned up because of this.

It could've been a similar situation to what happened when Vegeta and Nappa arrived. The only difference being that no one died against Freeza.

One could assume Goku's pod, which would still land in the same spot regardless of whether he used the Shunkan Idou to get Freeza, was retrieved and put in a museum somewhere, and it became public knowledge as to where it originated. Bulma likely told Trunks where it was.

Bulma knew where Frieza had arrived , and when Goku arrived in Trunks timeline. You see , I can think pretty easy. Just keep your head cool , and think like me.

Goku and Freeza landed in completely different locations, and Trunks knew exactly where Goku would land. Knowing where Freeza landed doesn't explain how Trunks knew where Goku would land.

That doesn't explain why she would have told Trunks that Goku would be arriving 3 hours after Frieza did in the past if he arrived shortly after Frieza did and took care of him.

He knows the exact location of Goku's arrival but in his time line Goku didn't arrive 3 hours after Frieza, he arrived shortly after and killed him. This also explains why Trunks panicked and thought he had to intervene...

KP, where does it say that Goku took the space pod with him when he used IT? Because if it doesn't say that anywhere I definitely think it's really likely that Goku teleported to Earth killed Frieza while his spaceship was still on course to arrive on Earth 3 hours later without him in it.

If he really did take the space pod with him.......
